Ceramyx board game
"Nova loiça de Viana"
Project that challenged the students to "reinvent" Viana's ceramic pieces. The present project titled "Ceramyx", which is categorized as a board game, was inspired by the white and cobalt blue contrast tiles found in Viana's architecture. In this game you place the square pieces on the board with the aim of making shape combinations coinciding with those on the sides. Each of the 36 pieces alternates a combination of four different shapes. To complement the game, a rule manual was printed.
First set of photos represent a study model made with K-line and balsa wood. Second set of photos represents a later version made with stoneware with a white and cobalt blue glaze finish.
These were displayed on the Decorative Arts Museum of Viana do Castelo in 2019.
